FOR THE NEXT 7 DAYS: GO TO SLEEP EARLY.
We know that most adults need 7-9 hours of sleep each night. But did you know that getting those z’s earlier in the night is actually better for you? Early sleepers get way more perks than night owls, even if they sleep the same total amount. Early sleepers have fewer evening food cravings and subsequently weight less. Score!
But they also have better workouts (regardless of when the workout happens), report less feelings of worry or overwhelm, less addiction to caffeine, higher energy throughout the day, more productivity at work and stronger communication skills. Early sleepers also have better immune function and not surprisingly, an easier time getting out of the bed when the alarm clock goes off. It pays to go to bed early.
Getting enough sleep is hugely important for your overall health and fitness goals. But even if you don’t change the total amount you sleep, going to bed earlier can still have huge perks!
So think about what time you normally go to bed and push that time forward an hour or two. You don’t have to be an old geezer going to bed at 7PM, but somewhere around 10PM is pretty darn ideal, depending of course on what time you wake up. Then make sure you stick with the same bedtime each day this week (yes, even on the weekends)!
